Intervals for
Example 11-14
The two previous examples in this section used summary information in the
problems. Sometimes we may have real data observed when we need to
compare two population means. The
Large Sample Confidence Interval
for the Difference between Two Population Means
workbook allows us to
also find confidence intervals when data is observed. The following example
will illustrate this feature of the workbook.
Example 11-15:
Two different medications were used to determine the
effectiveness of reducing a pain level five headache. As patients reported to
a particular pain clinic with a headache assessed to be at a level five, each
patient was given an equal dosage of one of the two medications, but not
both. The time it took for the pain level to reduce to zero (no headache) were
recorded. Following are the results of the study for both groups of patients
and the time (in minutes) it took the pain level to go to zero.
