Next we will discuss the portion in the Venn diagram which is common to

both of the events. Such common events are called the intersection of

events.

Intersection of Events

Consider two events

Definition: Intersection of Two Events

The intersection of two events A and B is the set of outcomes that are

included in both A and B.

Notion: The intersection of A and B will be denoted by A ∩ B.
