Section Review

The next section deals with the chi-square test for independence between

two categorical variables.

15 -4 The Chi-Square Test for Independence

The chi-square test can be used both as a test of goodness-of-fit by

comparing frequencies of one variable to its theoretical expectations and as a

test of independence by comparing frequencies of one categorical variable

for different values of a second categorical variable. The underlying
